How are the safes shipped and delivered?
Each safe is shipped in three-to-four boxes, and no lift gate or fork truck is needed. A two-wheel hand dolly is often used to move the boxes from the truck to your home or business for assembly. See how freight and delivery work on our Shipping page.
How can I save on freight costs?
Freight is C.O.D. to the nearest local terminal based on weight and zip code; home delivery carries an additional charge. You can also save on all freight charges by picking up your safe directly at our manufacturing facility, we'll make arrangements to meet you if we're not open at your desired time. Read the full freight and delivery details on our Shipping page.
Why does checkout show no shipping charge, and how do I get a freight quote?
Freight isn't added at checkout. Your safe ships with R+L Carriers, and the freight is paid directly to the carrier, C.O.D., when it arrives. Call 319-232-9650 and we'll give you a freight quote over the phone and email you a copy if you'd like. How shipping works.
What is the heaviest piece of the safe?
The safe door, it weighs 100 to 175 lbs depending on the model.
Do the pieces of the safe fit easily together?
Every safe is laser cut and bent on CNC equipment, then fixtured and fully assembled for final fit before it ships, guaranteed to go together like a precision-fit piece of equipment.
How many people does it take to assemble the safe?
Two people are generally required to handle parts and assemble the larger safes.
Can the safe be disassembled?
Yes, it can be disassembled and moved as many times as needed.
Do you offer fire protection?
All safes are fire-resistant, not fireproof. Zanotti Armor safes have withstood 1,200°F for approximately 20 minutes during testing.
How large a safe do I need?
After more than 30 years of manufacturing, the most common comment we hear is that customers wish they'd bought a larger safe, the same logic that applies to closet or garage space applies here.
How thick is the steel?
The body is constructed with 1/8" thick sides, reinforced door jams, and a 3/16" thick top, bottom, and door.
How secure is a Zanotti Armor safe?
Two re-lockers are built into the door mechanism for an additional layer of security, giving the same degree of protection as a one-piece welded safe.
Do your safes meet the California gun safe requirements?
Yes, our safes meet or exceed all specifications required by the State of California.
I forgot how to operate my dial combination, can you help?
Of course, instructional videos walk through the dial combination process step by step.
Where can I view an actual safe?
Visit our showroom at our manufacturing facility in Waterloo, Iowa, we encourage customers to stop by, and we're happy to make arrangements if you're passing through outside our normal hours.
How long will it take for me to get my safe?
Every order is processed in the sequence it's received; call or email for your current order status. Our growing production capacity is helping minimize future delays.
What makes your safes different from cheaper foreign-made safes?
It comes down to quality, our safes are hand-made to precision fit and tolerances, the same way a well-built car door sounds different when it closes.
Why don't you offer electronic locks?
Electronic locks don't hold up to our quality standards, they're unreliable, and sooner or later they cause trouble.
Why don't you use "spy-proof" dials I've seen on other safes?
We use standard front-reading dials because they're easier to read, including in low light or with bifocals.
Do external hinges create a security issue?
No, external hinges let the door swing open a full 180° for complete access, while our full-length 3/4" diameter chrome-plated deadbolts provide the real door security. Even if the hinges were cut off, the door couldn't be removed.
